Prime Minister Aso Makes an Offering to Yasukuni Shrine

On Tuesday, Japanese Prime Minister Aso presented the Yasukuni Shrime with a Sakaki Evergreen Plant to commemorate the start of Japan’s three-day spring festival.  Although the plant was purchased by private funds, and was not presented under any official capacity, this move by Mr. Aso has set off another round of criticism from neighboring countries.  The following are news reports covering the offering by Mr. Aso, and the subsequent visit by party and cabinet members to the Yasukuni Shrine later that week.
