Ministry Passes New Controversial History Text

On Thursday, April 9, 2009 the Japanese Ministry of Education, Science and Technology released the details of a new middle-school history textbook by the Japanese Society for History Textbook Reform (JSHTR) that passed its 2008 screening process.  The “Shinpen – Atarashii Rekishi Kyoukasho” (New Ed. – The New History Textbook), now published by Jiyu publishers, is the latest edition in the line of controversial textbooks from the “Tsukuru Kai” (JSHTR) and will be available for public purchased on April 28, 2009.
